WASHINGTON, June 25 (CNA) — Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu is currently leading a bipartisan delegation on an official visit to Washington D.C. to engage with U.S. administrative officials and policy experts. According to sources familiar with the trip, the delegation held discussions with representatives from the White House and the Department of Defense, during which the U.S. side reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to Taiwan.

Following a visit to Phoenix, the delegation arrived in Washington D.C. on June 21. Prior to today's high-level meetings, the group met with seven Democratic U.S. Senators and participated in a reception hosted by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO), engaging with over 30 members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

In addition to official government meetings, the delegation visited the Heritage Foundation, a prominent D.C.-based think tank, and attended a dinner with local Taiwanese expatriates. During his address at the dinner, Han emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, stating that despite intense domestic political disagreements, the delegation maintains a unified front when representing Taiwan internationally.

Representative Alexander Yui, Taiwan’s top envoy to the U.S., stated during the dinner that the delegation’s interactions with U.S. government officials, lawmakers, and scholars demonstrate that American support for Taiwan remains "rock-solid."

The seven-member bipartisan delegation includes KMT legislators Lin Szu-ming, Lai Shyh-bao, and Yang Chiung-ying; DPP legislators Chen Kuan-ting, Lee Po-yi, and Kuo Yu-ching; and TPP legislator Hung Yu-hsiang. The delegation is scheduled to attend the inaugural EVA Air Taipei-Washington flight ceremony tomorrow before returning to Taiwan.
