CWA Issues Heavy Rain Alert: Yunlin County Faces Risk of Extremely Heavy Rainfall

Central News Agency, Taipei, June 27 – The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued a heavy rain alert as a weather front combined with southwesterly winds creates conditions conducive to short-duration, high-intensity rainfall.

For today, June 27, Yunlin County is expected to experience localized heavy or extremely heavy rainfall. Nantou County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County are under alerts for localized heavy rain or torrential rain. Furthermore, regions from Miaoli northward, the eastern half of the island, and the Penghu area have a probability of localized heavy rain.

The public is urged to exercise caution regarding lightning strikes and strong wind gusts. Residents in low-lying areas should take precautions against potential flooding. Those in mountainous regions should remain vigilant against landslides, falling rocks, debris flows, and sudden rises in stream water levels. Extremely heavy rain is currently forecasted for Yunlin County.
