Central News Agency (Taipei, June 26) – The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued a heavy rain advisory as Typhoon No. 7 moves northward, combined with the approach of a weather front and the strengthening of southwesterly winds. Short-duration intense rainfall is expected across the region.

Today, Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County are under alerts for local extreme torrential rain. Tainan City, the Hengchun Peninsula, and the mountainous regions of New Taipei City are subject to local torrential or extreme torrential rain.

Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, Yilan County, Penghu County, and the mountainous areas of Taitung County are facing potential heavy rain or torrential rain. There is also a possibility of localized heavy rain in Keelung, Hsinchu City, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, and Taitung areas, with risks of lightning strikes and strong gusts.

Residents in low-lying areas should remain vigilant against flooding, while those in mountainous areas are advised to watch for landslides, falling rocks, debris flows, and flash floods.
