Kaohsiung City’s public bicycle system, YouBike, has surpassed 88.88 million cumulative rides. The city's Transportation Bureau announced that starting July 1, the "Friendly Relay Program" will be implemented to address challenges in bike availability during peak hours.

To improve system efficiency, the city has expanded its infrastructure by adding 26 stations and 512 parking docks, while upgrading 39 existing stations with 550 additional docks. Six underutilized stations have also been relocated to optimize coverage.

Transportation Bureau Director-General Chang Shu-chuan stated that the new program aims to encourage users to assist in bike redistribution. Under this scheme, members who rent bikes from "full" stations or return bikes to "empty" stations will receive a NT$5 ride voucher for each action. By combining both, a user can earn up to NT$10 in rewards per trip, provided the rental and return occur at different locations. This program applies to all registered members automatically without the need for additional application.
