According to a report by Central News Agency, the Kuomintang (KMT) Changhua County Party Branch announced today that Chen Wen-pin, Chairman of the Changhua City Representatives Council, has emerged victorious in a simulated public opinion survey and will represent the party in the upcoming Changhua City mayoral election. In a joint media interview, Chen stated that he will continue to intensify grassroots campaigning and work to secure support from centrist voters.

Chen also expressed his intention to present policy platforms focused on industrial development and social welfare for Changhua City in the future.

Chen Wen-pin and KMT-affiliated Changhua County Councilor Wen Chih-hua had both sought the party nomination. Despite multiple coordination meetings convened by the county party branch, no consensus was reached. As a result, the county party’s nomination committee decided to transfer the nomination authority to the central party headquarters, which then conducted a simulated public opinion poll to determine the candidate.

This afternoon, a meeting was held at the county party office attended by Changhua County Party Director Hsiao Ching-tien, KMT Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Organization Development Committee Lee Che-hua, Wen Chih-hua, and Chen Wen-pin. Hsiao and Lee jointly announced Chen’s victory in the simulated poll.

Wen Chih-hua’s campaign team issued a statement expressing respect for the decision and affirming their commitment to abide by the party’s final resolution. However, they noted regret that the nomination process did not achieve integration through an open, fair, and credible mechanism.

She emphasized that she would prioritize the overall party interest, expressed gratitude to her supporters, and affirmed that her public service would not cease due to this nomination outcome. Regardless of her future position, she pledged to continue caring for the local community, listening to public opinion, and striving for Changhua’s development. (Edited by Li Ming-tsung)
