The 2026 Taiwan Expo in Europe, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs' International Trade Administration and TAITRA, commenced today in Warsaw. A key announcement came from the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), which designated Miękinia as the site for the new TEEMA Science Park, aiming to replicate Taiwan's industrial success through the 'Overseas Science Park 3.0' model.
Featuring over 100 leading Taiwanese firms, the expo focuses on the themes of 'Resiliency, Reliability, and Rebuilding.' For the first time, participants from the EU, Japan, and Ukraine have been invited to bolster supply chain collaboration. Vice Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Chern-chyi highlighted the '3Rs' framework, emphasizing the deepening of trade ties with Poland, which has seen a 20% growth since 2018.
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung noted Poland's role as a vital industrial and logistics hub for Taiwan's expansion into Europe. He highlighted ongoing Taiwanese investments in Germany, France, and the Czech Republic, and expressed Taiwan's readiness to assist in Ukraine's reconstruction through smart city and telecommunications expertise.
Representing the European Commission, Valère Moutarlier of DG GROW expressed interest in Taiwan-EU cooperation in advanced manufacturing and circular economy. TEEMA Deputy Secretary-General Tsai Sung-hui confirmed that the Miękinia site, located in the Wrocław metropolitan area, will feature dedicated zones for battery manufacturing, infrastructure, and smart services.
