Key news on the U.S.-Iran conflict.

(CNA, Tehran, 22nd) — CNN reported today, citing data, that maritime traffic through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz has slightly increased, with 26 vessels passing through in the past 24 hours.

According to MarineTraffic data reviewed by CNN, at least 14 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz today.

Some maritime data relies solely on position signals transmitted by vessels, but these signals may be disrupted by GPS spoofing, causing navigation systems to report incorrect locations.

Senior officials from the U.S. and Iran held high-level talks in Switzerland over the weekend, with the Strait of Hormuz being one of the central issues. Mediators from Pakistan and Qatar announced yesterday that the parties have established a new communication channel to alleviate pressure on the strait and promote the free passage of commercial vessels.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical waterways. Daily oil and gas exports through the strait sharply declined after the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28. However, the U.S. and Iran signed a peace agreement on June 17, stipulating the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. (Compiled by: Chen Cheng-chien) 1150622
