The Taiwan Railways Corporation (TRC) reported that a fracture occurred in a rail fishplate at the northern end of Shulin Station today, creating a 2-3 centimeter height difference at the rail joint. Emergency repairs were completed by 3:19 PM, and dual-track operations between Shulin and Banqiao stations have resumed.

TRC stated that they were notified at 1:52 PM of a vertical displacement on the eastern main track near the northern section of Shulin Station. To ensure operational safety, the company temporarily suspended traffic on the eastern line between Banqiao and Shulin, maintaining bi-directional traffic on the western line.

Inspection revealed that the issue originated near turnout 13B (approximately at kilometer marker K40+600), where the rail joint height difference measured 2 to 3 centimeters. Maintenance crews were dispatched immediately to perform repairs.

TRC apologized for the inconvenience caused by the resulting delays. Passengers whose trains were delayed beyond the threshold for refund eligibility may present their tickets at any station ticket counter within one year of the scheduled departure date to receive a full refund, with no service fees applied.
