Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu departed for the United States on the 21st, leading a bipartisan delegation of lawmakers to visit Arizona and Washington D.C. The primary objectives are to deepen congressional cooperation between Taiwan and the U.S., extend congratulations on the U.S. 250th anniversary, and review TSMC’s operations in the U.S.

The 19-member delegation, supported by Deputy Legislative Yuan President Chiang Chi-chen and Secretary-General Chou Wan-lai, departed from Taoyuan International Airport. President Han stated that the mission, invited by the Taiwan Caucuses of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, aims to exchange views on national security, constituency governance, and future parliamentary collaboration.

Highlighting the significance of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, Han expressed the Legislative Yuan’s intent to represent the public in conveying sincere wishes to the American government. Furthermore, the delegation plans to visit TSMC’s Arizona site to engage with employees and assess the working and living conditions of the workforce, reflecting ongoing domestic concern for the company’s overseas investment.

Deputy President Chiang Chi-chen noted that such congressional diplomacy is crucial for bilateral progress. He expressed hope that these exchanges could facilitate solutions for issues such as the avoidance of double taxation, thereby normalizing and streamlining trade and investment relations between Taiwan and the U.S.
