Kaohsiung City advanced to the E-Sun Cup championship game after a 3-1 victory over Taitung County in the semifinals on June 19. Starting pitcher Chen Yu-Hsun dominated the mound, throwing a complete game and allowing only one run to lead the team to victory.
Kaohsiung seized an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on Taitung’s pitching instability through walks and errors to score two runs. In the fourth inning, Hu Cheng-En sparked another rally, eventually driving in an insurance run via a double from Chuan Yung-Le. Chen Yu-Hsun maintained control for most of the game, limiting Taitung to three hits while striking out nine batters over seven innings of work, totaling 98 pitches.
Coach Shih Hung-Chieh praised Chen’s command, noting his confidence during high-pressure moments in the later innings. With this win, Kaohsiung City breaks a six-year drought in the tournament, setting up a final clash against New Taipei City tomorrow. The team, primarily composed of players from Pu-Men High School, was bolstered by strong local support from the Fo Guang Shan community.
