In the QS World University Rankings 2027 released by the UK-based higher education research firm QS, National Taiwan University (NTU) has achieved its best-ever global position at 54th, and 17th in Asia. NTU stated that it improved 9 spots from its previous position of 63rd in the 2026 rankings. Despite a more competitive landscape with the number of ranked universities growing from 8,467 to 8,808, NTU saw gains in areas such as academic performance, internationalization, graduate employability, and sustainability.

Regarding academic performance, NTU's influence in research citation continues to rise. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, NTU had five major fields in the world's top 100, seven subjects in the top 50, and achieved its first-ever top 10 placement (Classics and Ancient History, ranked 6th globally).

NTU has also made significant strides in internationalization, including increasing the number and diversity of international students. The university has deepened cooperation with key sister universities, participated in global higher education and academic organizations, and established international joint research centers. Furthermore, programs like the 'International Mentorship Program' have facilitated global talent exchange. NTU President Chen Wen-chang noted that the university would humbly refer to various rankings to continue its improvement, focusing on attracting international talent, diversifying global academic networks, and fulfilling its duty to cultivate essential talent for the nation.
