2026 Dongshi Sea Summer Festival Set to Launch in Chiayi with Grand Fireworks

The 2026 Dongshi Sea Summer Festival is scheduled to take place over two consecutive weekends on July 18, 19, 25, and 26 at the Dongshi Fisherman's Wharf. During the promotional press conference, Chiayi County Governor Weng Chang-liang introduced the event’s theme: "Kids play, adults shout, the whole family out," aiming to create a comprehensive summer party for all ages.

The festival will feature a specialized amusement zone, including a 42-meter "Dream Beast" water slide, a foam interactive island, and a water play area designed for children. Musical performances on the first weekend (July 18-19) will be headlined by Andrew Tan and Tai Ai-ling, supported by idol groups U:NUS and Ghost Crystal, as well as various emerging pop artists. On July 25, the Yixiang Taiwan Theater Company will present a family-oriented play titled "Twelve Zodiacs Fortune."

In addition to entertainment, a local market will host 50 vendors, offering local delicacies and popular items from the 2026 Taiwan Lantern Festival. The event's climax will be a 12-minute maritime fireworks display on the evening of July 26. This year's show has been upgraded to include 16-inch high-altitude shells, comparable to Japanese festival standards, with a total of 18,000 rounds lighting up the night sky.
