According to a report by Central News Agency, renowned restaurant chain Din Tai Fung has announced on its official website that it will adjust prices for select menu items starting June 22, citing increased operational costs.
The price of each soup dumpling (xiaolongbao) will rise from NT$28 to NT$29. Shrimp egg fried rice will increase from NT$300 to NT$320. Other items include pork wontons in chili oil (from NT$230 to NT$240) and side dishes (from NT$120 to NT$130).
The company stated that ongoing increases in raw materials and labor costs necessitate the adjustment to maintain food quality and service standards. The overall average price increase is estimated at approximately 5%.
This marks Din Tai Fung's first price adjustment since June 12, 2024, roughly one year ago.
Additionally, McDonald's Taiwan also raised prices on select products starting May 27. Value meals, breakfast sets, sharing boxes, certain snacks, and select beverages increased by NT$3 to NT$5, while main entrée à la carte prices remain unchanged.
