(Central News Agency reporter Su Chih-Yu, Taipei, April 18) Cheng-Tsung Cheng, a Taiwanese infielder with the Boston Red Sox Triple-A team in Minor League Baseball (MiLB), hit a double today, marking his second consecutive game with an extra-base hit and extending his hitting streak to five games. Meanwhile, Ko Ching-Hsien of the Los Angeles Dodgers Single-A team hit his ninth home run of the season.

Cheng started today's game against the Philadelphia Phillies Triple-A as the ninth batter and shortstop. In the top of the second inning, he hit a double to center field in his first at-bat. In the top of the fourth, he grounded out to first base. He was replaced by a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth and exited the game. He finished 1-for-2 at the plate, raising his batting average to .249. This marks his second straight game with an extra-base hit following yesterday's home run. The Red Sox eventually won 7-4 after a 10-inning battle.

In the bottom of the fourth, he launched a solo home run to right-center field, giving his team a 2-0 lead. He drew walks in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings, helping sustain offensive momentum.
