(Central News Agency reporter Chao Min-ya, Taipei, June 18) To help various sectors lower the barriers to adopting artificial intelligence (AI), the National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs) National Center for High-performance Computing (NCHC) has launched the TAIWAN AI RAP and TAIDE Empowerment Program, now open for applications. A series of hands-on workshops are also planned to accelerate the development of generative AI innovative applications through platform resources, computing power support, and talent cultivation, helping enterprises and teams move from concept to validation and from prototype to implementation.
NARLabs released a press statement today noting that generative AI applications are rapidly spreading across enterprise operations, education services, and smart manufacturing, with academic and research institutions and startups actively exploring the innovation opportunities brought by large language models. However, for many enterprises, academic research units, and startup teams, the real challenge lies not only in having application ideas but also in accessing sufficient computing power, appropriate development tools, and the ability to successfully deploy technology in real-world scenarios.
NARLabs stated that TAIWAN AI RAP is a one-stop generative AI application development platform built by NCHC, integrating high-performance computing resources, AI development tools, diverse model services, and model fine-tuning and evaluation tools. This allows users to complete application development, testing, and validation processes within the same environment, significantly reducing the time and cost of setting up AI projects.
NARLabs noted that the platform supports both the TAIDE local language model and major open-source language AI models, greatly enhancing Traditional Chinese language understanding and application capabilities. It can be widely applied in smart customer service, knowledge management, employee training, document generation, and enterprise-level AI Agent scenarios, helping users build AI services better aligned with Taiwan market needs.
NARLabs announced that the NCHC has launched the TAIWAN AI RAP and TAIDE Empowerment Program, now open for applications. Applicants who pass the review and complete activation will receive computing credits worth NT$20,000 for model development, fine-tuning training, application validation, and generative AI service deployment. Enterprises, academic institutions, and startup teams alike can quickly launch AI projects through the platform, transforming innovative ideas into tangible outcomes.
NARLabs explained that the program also introduces a diversified reward task mechanism. Application teams can accumulate additional computing credits through tasks such as user referrals and outcome reports, with top performers eligible for up to NT$200,000 worth of computing resources. Application cases with high potential or notable achievements may also receive co-marketing opportunities, promoting the cross-domain diffusion of excellent application experiences, building bridges for technical exchange, and gaining greater attention from industry and technical communities.
NARLabs pointed out that NCHC will also launch a series of TAIWAN AI RAP hands-on workshops this year, themed 'From GenAI to AI Agent,' in collaboration with strategic partners including UnieAI, NYCU myPDA, Camille, and SIRI Intelligent Technology. By sharing practical experiences and guiding participants through RAP implementation, application domains, and business extensions, the workshops will help enterprises and development teams overcome technical adoption barriers and implement AI applications into workflows and industrial settings.
NARLabs stated that generative AI is gradually transitioning from the technical exploration phase to the stage of practical application and value creation. NCHC will continue to help enterprises, academic research units, and startup teams lower AI adoption barriers through the TAIWAN AI RAP platform, computing resources, promotion programs, and workshops, cultivating more AI application talent and success stories, and jointly enhancing Taiwan's momentum for smart innovation and digital transformation.
