(Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, June 18) In anticipation of a surge in tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Tainan City Government has initiated inspections on accommodation pricing and in-room hidden camera detection to ensure market transaction order and traveler privacy safety.
The Tainan City Bureau of Tourism stated today that thanks to the holiday and dragon boat races, the city's accommodation market has heated up, with strong booking performance in popular tourist areas and urban hotels. Prior to the holiday, the Bureau has conducted inspections on accommodation prices, reviewing posted rates, actual charging standards, booking information transparency, and deposit collection and refund policies.
Key inspection points include whether room rates exceed filed prices, whether pricing information is fully disclosed, whether deposit collection and refunds comply with standardized contract regulations, and hidden camera detection to safeguard traveler privacy. No violations have been found so far.
The Bureau explained that the 2026 Tainan International Dragon Boat Championships will be held from June 17 to 21 on the Tainan Canal, accompanied by various cultural, family-friendly, and tourism activities, expected to attract a large number of visitors. With rising accommodation demand, these inspections help maintain lodging quality and consumer rights. (Editor: Li Hsi-chang) 1150618
