The Representative Office in Israel and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem co-hosted the first screening of the Taiwanese semiconductor industry documentary 'Mount Makers' on the 15th, followed by a panel discussion. The event attracted students and professionals from the tech and startup sectors, enhancing awareness of Taiwan's semiconductor development and the potential for technological cooperation between Taiwan and Israel.
According to a press release from the Representative Office, attendees gained deeper insights into the evolution of Taiwan's semiconductor industry and its nation-building experiences through the documentary. Many expressed admiration and respect for the perseverance and resilience demonstrated by the Taiwanese people.
Ku Chen-wei, Secretary of the Representative Office, stated that Taiwan is a vital partner in the international community, playing a key role in global geopolitics, economic development, and the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. Both Taiwan and Israel face challenges from authoritarian expansion and are actively collaborating with like-minded countries to build 'non-red supply chains' to ensure supply chain resilience and national security.
Lin Pei-cheng, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv, emphasized Taiwan's critical position in advanced chip manufacturing and its role as a driving force in next-generation AI development. She noted that combining Taiwan's manufacturing strengths with Israel's innovation and R&D capabilities could yield promising collaborative outcomes, benefiting both sides.
Israeli youth, media representatives, and industry leaders actively participated in the discussion, creating a vibrant exchange. During the 'Asia Day' events held alongside the screening, the Representative Office promoted Taiwanese Hakka traditional attire and bubble tea, which were warmly received by students and the public. Many expressed interest in visiting Taiwan.
