(CNA reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, April 17) A robbery took place today at Taishin Bank's Banan Branch in New Taipei City. A man surnamed Wang is suspected of using scissors to seize over 400,000 New Taiwan Dollars (NTD). Upon receiving the report, police responded immediately and arrested the suspect within four minutes.

According to police, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a report came in about a robbery at Taishin Bank's Banan Branch on Guanqian East Road, Banqiao District, New Taipei City. Police immediately dispatched ten officers to the scene.

The Banqiao Police Precinct stated that officers arrived at 10:19 a.m. and found the suspect, a man surnamed Wang, carrying a backpack and brandishing scissors, threatening a teller to hand over money.

Police immediately subdued and arrested the suspect, retrieving the scissors used in the crime. The total amount seized was confirmed as 404,200 NTD. The case is being investigated for robbery and aggravated robbery, with authorities examining whether there were accomplices or premeditation.

New Taipei City Police Commissioner Fang Yang-ning, speaking to reporters, explained that the 400,000 NTD seized by the suspect was money that bank staff had prepared to deliver to a customer. The suspect was arrested before he could leave the scene, while still organizing the cash. Police have completed forensic identification and evidence collection, and commended the bank staff's alertness and officers' diligent performance.

Commissioner Fang emphasized the effectiveness of the direct police-bank emergency reporting system and stated that efforts will continue to strengthen online patrol duties, ensure rapid response, and improve interception and encirclement coordination.
