(CNA reporter Hsiao Po-yang, Nantou County, June 17) Shanlinxi Recreation Area has planted 120,000 hydrangea plants, which are gradually blooming into a vivid and colorful sea of flowers. Starting July 1, the National Taiwan University Mountain Experimental Farm will host its 'Rustic Summer Banquet' event, allowing visitors to pay for picking experiences of nectarines, Tsugaru apples, and organic vegetables, while enjoying 'Hehuan Mountain brand' free natural air conditioning.

Situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters, the Shanlinxi Forest Ecological Resort enjoys a mild and cool climate ideal for hydrangea cultivation. Operators stated today that the resort features around 18 hydrangea varieties in colors including pink, gray-blue, yellow-green, gray-white, light pink, purple-red, and pale purple, with over 120,000 plants in total. The peak blooming season runs from mid-June to mid-July, transforming the hills into a dazzling floral landscape.

The Shanlinxi area notes that hydrangeas are mainly planted at the Natural Flower Center, the wooden cabin zone, and Ginkgo Lake, making it Taiwan's largest-scale hydrangea cultivation and viewing destination. Additionally, 60,000 agapanthus plants are also gradually blooming, with white and blue-purple clusters competing in beauty alongside the hydrangeas. The current temperature in the area ranges from 12 to 22 degrees Celsius, making it an ideal spot for escaping the heat during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and wandering through the blossoms.

The Mountain Experimental Farm, affiliated with the College of Bio-Resources and Agriculture at National Taiwan University, will host the 'Rustic Summer Banquet' from July 1 to August 31. Admission is NT$200. The farm, located at an elevation of approximately 2,100 meters at Meifeng, offers a comfortably cool climate even in summer, comparable to an air-conditioned room. In addition to rare temperate flowers seldom seen in lowland areas, the farm will also feature a limited-time summer exhibition of tuberous begonias. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) 1150617
