The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a record high, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index—closely correlated with Taiwan stocks—plunged 805.4 points. The Taiwan stock index futures dropped 744 points in overnight trading, leading to a broad market decline today. In morning trading, the Taiwan stock market fell 649.68 points to 45,159.51.

TSMC's American Depositary Receipts (ADR) declined 3.53%. Reflecting this, TSMC's share price weakened today, hitting a morning low of NT$2,350, down NT$50. Its market capitalization dropped to NT$60.94 trillion, dragging down the broader market by approximately 397 points.

Other major weighted stocks, including MediaTek, Delta Electronics, Hon Hai (Foxconn), and ASE Holding, also declined, pushing the electronics sector index down over 1%.
