Crane Tilts During Operation in Taichung, City Government Orders Legal Action and Improvements

According to Central News Agency, a mobile crane tilted during lifting operations at a construction site on Fushun Road in Xitun District, Taichung City, with footage showing the crane arm hitting scaffolding circulating online. No injuries were reported, but the crane's outriggers damaged the road surface. The Taichung City Government immediately dispatched labor inspectors, stating that if violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act are confirmed, fines ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$300,000 will be imposed, and work may be suspended until improvements are made. The Urban Development Bureau confirmed the project holds a valid construction permit and has ordered the contractor to complete repairs to the damaged road and temporary ramp by the end of the day. The city emphasized that construction companies must thoroughly assess ground load capacity and implement proper traffic control and safety measures before conducting lifting operations to ensure public and site safety.
