The Central Weather Administration issued a heavy rain advisory today for 12 counties and cities, including Greater Taipei, due to strong afternoon convection. Vigorous development of convective cloud systems may lead to short-duration intense rainfall. Residents in northern and central Taiwan, Yilan, Hualien, and mountainous areas of Kaohsiung should remain alert for localized heavy downpours.
Areas expected to experience heavy rain include mountainous regions of Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Kaohsiung City, Yilan County, and Hualien County.
The administration warns of potential lightning strikes and strong gusty winds. Mountainous areas should be cautious of landslides and falling rocks, while low-lying regions should watch for possible flooding. (Edited by Chang Ya-ching) 1150617
