The city government reported that the heaviest rainfall is currently concentrated in Wenshan, Xinyi, and Nangang districts, with Wenshan District recording the highest hourly rainfall at 56 millimeters. Neihu District is also seeing rainfall approaching 50 millimeters, with possible hail.
Strong convective cloud systems developed in the afternoon, prompting the Central Weather Administration to issue a heavy rain alert for Taipei and other counties today. The Taipei City Disaster Prevention and Relief Office stated that the most intense rainfall is occurring in the southern districts of Wenshan, Xinyi, and Nangang, with the Zhinan Village station in Wenshan District measuring 56 millimeters of rainfall.
The office forecasts that rainfall in Wenshan, Xinyi, and Nangang districts could reach 50 to 70 millimeters over the next 1 to 2 hours, while Neihu District may see 40 to 50 millimeters. Hail and gusts of around level 5 on the Beaufort scale are possible. Other districts are expected to receive 10 to 30 millimeters of rainfall.
The disaster office confirmed that emergency response teams have been activated in Wenshan, Xinyi, and Nangang district offices to handle any sudden incidents. Residents are reminded that strong afternoon rains are likely again tomorrow, and advised to carry rain gear and avoid mountainous or waterside areas during afternoon hours.
