Police and firefighters arrived on the scene to assist, and one student was taken to the hospital. The school stated that the elevator suddenly rose to the 7th floor and could not open its doors properly during the ride, but did not fall, and has contacted the manufacturer for repairs.
Police and fire departments received the report around 7 a.m., stating that an elevator malfunction had occurred at Zhongshan Girls High School on Chang'an East Road in Zhongshan District, with people trapped inside. They immediately dispatched one fire truck, one ambulance, and six personnel to respond.
According to preliminary investigations, four students were riding the elevator when it suddenly malfunctioned for unknown reasons, trapping them inside. Fortunately, all were rescued unharmed. One student reported pain in the head and limbs with no visible external injuries and was accompanied by a teacher to the hospital for examination. The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
Zhongshan Girls High School told Central News Agency that the incident occurred this morning. The four students entered the elevator on the first floor of the academic building when it suddenly rose to the 7th floor and failed to open the doors properly. Frightened, the students used their mobile phones to call the school’s emergency campus safety hotline. The school immediately notified police and fire services, who arrived to help extract the students from the elevator.
