Heavy Rain Warning for Northern and Nantou Mountain Areas; Localized Downpours in Central Taiwan

Central News Agency, Taipei, June 17 — The Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory. Strong convective cloud development in the afternoon could lead to short-duration intense rainfall. Today, there is a high probability of localized heavy rain or downpours in Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung City, and mountainous areas of Nantou County.

There is also a chance of localized heavy rain in areas north of Hsinchu, including Miaoli, central Taiwan, Yilan, Hualien, and mountainous regions of Kaohsiung. The public is advised to watch out for lightning and strong gusts. Mountainous areas should be cautious of landslides and falling rocks, while low-lying areas should guard against flooding.
