2026 FIFA World Cup Key News
Central News Agency (Arlington, Texas, June 17 — International News) — England forward Harry Kane scored two goals in the first half of today’s World Cup group stage match, leading England to a 4-2 victory over Croatia and securing a winning start to their championship campaign.
According to AFP, Kane, who plays for Bayern Munich in Germany’s Bundesliga, put England ahead twice in the first half, including one goal from a penalty kick.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Jude Bellingham added another goal for England, and substitute Marcus Rashford sealed the win with a goal five minutes before full time.
However, 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia equalized twice through goals from Martin Baturina and Petar Musa.
Both teams showed defensive vulnerabilities, and the second half remained full of scoring opportunities. Just two minutes into the match, Bellingham once again put England ahead in front of 70,000 spectators at the Texas stadium.
England created several chances to extend their lead, but victory was only truly secured after Rashford’s goal.
This match echoed the 2018 World Cup semifinal, when Croatia eliminated England 2-1 after extra time. (Compiled by Hsu Jui-cheng) 1150618
