(Central News Agency reporter Zhang Shuling, Beijing, June 17) China's United Front work toward Taiwan has led to 'professionalization' and乱象 (chaos), prompting local authorities to begin rectification. Chen Bin-hua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of China, stated today that illegal intermediaries exploiting cross-strait exchanges for improper gains will absolutely not be permitted.

The Taiwan Affairs Office held its regular press conference this morning. A reporter asked whether, according to media reports, mainland China has begun rectifying the乱象 involving some individuals in Taiwan profiting from cross-strait exchanges, and is promoting a 'direct reporting and direct review' model designed to bypass intermediaries and directly connect with relevant Taiwanese organizations and associations.

In response, Chen Bin-hua stated that the mainland side actively supports institutions and individuals across the strait in participating in exchanges and cooperation in accordance with laws and regulations, but absolutely does not allow illegal intermediaries to seek improper benefits through cross-strait exchanges.

The WeChat public account 'Another Perspective on the World' recently revealed that China's United Front work, which focuses on 'first-time visitors' (Shoulaizu) and grassroots youth in Taiwan, has been exploited by certain ill-intentioned actors as a tool for profit, leading to frequent 'professionalized' abuses. Originally intended exchange activities have long been monopolized by certain 'inner circles,' and the behavior of some 'professional group leaders' has become increasingly extreme.

The article states that at least Jingmen and Yichang in Hubei Province have already begun rectification efforts, establishing electronic files for exchange participants and placing those with不良 records on a 'blacklist' to achieve cross-regional joint bans. In addition, the mainland is promoting the 'direct reporting and direct review' model, directly connecting with Taiwan's 'patriotic organizations' and school associations without intermediaries, completely severing interest chains, and strictly investigating违规 fee collection practices.
