(Taipei, June 16, CNA reporter Hsieh Ching-wen) The 2026 LLB U13 Asia Cup Baseball Championship kicks off on June 22, featuring six national and regional teams from the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, including host Taiwan. Taichung Shiang Shang Community will compete against strong rivals Japan and South Korea, aiming for the championship and a berth in the World Series in the United States.

The tournament will be held at Hsieh Kuo-cheng Baseball Field in Youth Park, Taipei City. The preliminary round follows a single round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the championship game. Participating teams include Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, and defending champions South Korea. Taiwan is represented by Taichung Shiang Shang Community.

The champion of this year's tournament will represent the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region at the Little League Baseball Intermediate Division (LLB 50/70) World Series, to be held in Livermore, California, USA, from August 2 to August 9.

This marks Taiwan's third appearance in the tournament. The previous two editions were represented by WHB Magicians, while Taichung Shiang Shang Community makes its debut as Taiwan's representative. Head coach Yao Yu-hsiang stated that the team has analyzed game footage of strong opponents Japan and South Korea to simulate and understand their strategies, with particular focus on improving batting and fielding. Additionally, the team held practice matches against local professional youth teams in Taichung on weekends to enhance players' in-game experience and competitive intensity. During the preparation period, the entire team has been united in their goal of winning the championship and advancing to the World Series in the U.S.

The Taiwan Little League (TLLB) announced in a press release that, following positive feedback from all participating nations after last year's successful hosting of the LLB regional tournament, the international headquarters has once again entrusted Taiwan with hosting this year's event. TLLB also expressed its intention to pursue hosting future tournaments for the Little League Major Division and Junior League divisions in Taiwan.
