(Central News Agency reporter Yang Chi-fang, Seoul, June 16) A carbon dioxide leak occurred today at Anam Station on Seoul Metro Line 6 during a fire safety inspection, prompting immediate evacuation of passengers and station personnel. Trains temporarily bypassed the station without stopping, but normal operations resumed after the gas was fully vented and safety confirmed.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Seoul Metro stated that around 10:40 a.m. local time today, carbon dioxide leaked from a fire suppression system during inspection work at the electrical substation on the first basement level of Anam Station.
Seoul Metro reported that upon gas infiltration into the station, all personnel were immediately evacuated and station access was restricted. Bidirectional trains were instructed to pass through without stopping. Train operations and normal station services resumed at 11:01 a.m. after complete gas dispersion and safety verification.
