(Central News Agency reporter Wu Wen-rong, Kinmen, June 16) Kinmen County police recently raided a board game café in Jincheng Township suspected of illegal gambling, arresting 12 individuals including the manager and staff. Police stated that through joint inspections and administrative penalties conducted with relevant departments of the Kinmen County Government, 11 board game cafés and mahjong parlors within the jurisdiction have been forced to suspend or cease operations.

Zhou Hong-lin, Chief of the Jincheng Police Substation under the Kinmen County Police Department, stated at a press conference today that after meticulous evidence collection and surveillance operations, authorities had obtained sufficient evidence regarding the business model and illegal activities of one board game café. The case was reported to the Kinmen District Prosecutors Office of Fujian Province for investigation under prosecutorial command. A search warrant was executed yesterday to raid the premises.

Zhou stated that the raid resulted in the immediate arrest of the manager surnamed Sheng, six staff members, and five gambling patrons. Evidence seized included over NT$680,000 in cash, walkie-talkies, a currency counter, and gambling tables. Police emphasized their zero-tolerance policy toward gambling crimes and pledged to strengthen surprise inspections and evidence collection at leisure venues, board game cafés, and mahjong parlors. Any illegal activities discovered will be investigated and prosecuted according to law. Authorities will also collaborate with the county government to impose heavy administrative penalties, including water and power disconnection.

In a press release, the Jincheng Police Substation stated that it will continue to vigorously crack down on leisure venues, board game cafés, and similar establishments operating under the guise of legitimate recreation while engaging in illegal activities. During the 'Anti-Gambling Special Operation' in April 2026, the police, through criminal investigations and third-party policing measures, actively collaborated with county government departments to conduct joint inspections and administrative penalties, forcing 11 such venues within the jurisdiction to suspend or cease operations.

The Jincheng Substation further reported that a large-scale board game café in Jinning Township was found to be involved in gambling. Authorities immediately reported the case to trigger third-party policing measures. After review, the county government determined that the venue had long-term violated public safety regulations for buildings, and on June 9, ordered the suspension of water and electricity supply, effectively cutting off the lifeline of the illegal operation.
