Tainan has experienced significant rainfall over recent days. Although the rain paused this morning, major reservoirs have been replenished. The combined storage rate of the Zengwen-Wushantou Reservoir system has exceeded 38%, while the Nanhua Reservoir's storage rate has surpassed 80%. Water continues to be diverted from the Jiaxian Weir through cross-basin transfer, raising hopes that the reservoir may reach full capacity.

According to monitoring data from the Southern Region Water Resources Office of the Water Resources Agency, as of 3:00 p.m. on June 1, the Zengwen-Wushantou Reservoir system held 54.76 million cubic meters of water, with a storage rate of 9.7%. By 10:00 a.m. today, the total storage had increased to 205.54 million cubic meters, raising the storage rate to 38.86%. The volume added during this period is nearly equivalent to the capacity of two Wushantou Reservoirs.

The Nanhua Reservoir, which primarily supplies domestic water, held approximately 18.44 million cubic meters on June 1, with a storage rate of 22.54%. By 10:00 a.m. today, its storage had risen to 67.19 million cubic meters, reaching a storage rate of 82.13%.

The Southern Region Water Resources Office forecasts that recent heavy rainfall in the Kaohsiung mountainous areas will allow continued cross-basin diversion from the Qishan Creek via the Jiaxian Weir into the Nanhua Reservoir. The principle is to maintain a high water level. If the diversion operation is not disrupted by excessively high turbidity in the raw water and proceeds smoothly, the reservoir could reach full capacity by late June.

The office estimates that Tainan's current water situation is normal, with stable water supply for domestic and industrial use expected through the end of September. However, the public is still urged to maintain water-saving habits and cherish water resources. (Editor: Zhang Mingkun) 1150616
