(Central News Agency, New York, 16th - compiled international news) The U.S. Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a record high shortly after opening today, driven by market optimism surrounding U.S.-Iran peace negotiations, which further drove down oil prices. At the same time, U.S. aerospace company SpaceX surpassed Amazon in market capitalization, becoming the fifth-largest publicly traded company in the United States.
At 9:31 a.m. Eastern Time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 306.27 points, or 0.59%, to 51,977.30.
The S&P 500 index edged up 0.95 points, or 0.01%, to 7,555.24.
