The Kaohsiung City Department of Transportation announced today that heavy traffic is expected during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which runs from June 19 to June 21. To manage congestion, traffic control measures will be implemented at major tourist destinations including Cijin, Xizi Bay, Hamasen, Pier-2, the Zoo, Fo Guang Shan, Qishan, Meinong, and Dream Mall.

Due to narrow roads around popular attractions in the Qishan and Meinong areas, congestion is likely on Provincial Highway 28 and Zhongshan Road. Visitors heading to Liugui and Maolin are advised to exit at Ligang Interchange and use alternative routes to avoid peak-hour bottlenecks.

Additionally, the recently opened Neimen Yesen Animal School offers weekend shuttle services from Qishan Transit Station. Visitors can take the Qiguoguo Highway 10 Express Bus from Zuoying HSR Station, TRA Xinzuoying Station, or Kaohsiung MRT Zuoying Station to Qishan Transit Station, then transfer to the shuttle.

The Ministry of Transportation’s Highway Bureau is currently reconstructing the New Qimei Bridge on Provincial Highway 3 in Qishan. The northbound bridge is closed for construction, while the southbound side remains open for two-way traffic. Motorists are urged to follow detour signs. Alternative routes include exiting National Highway 10 at Lingkou Interchange and taking Provincial Highway 29, or exiting at the Qishan terminus, continuing straight on County Road 140 (Qiping 1st Road), and crossing the Qishan Bridge via Provincial Highway 3.

Regarding ferry services, gasoline-powered motorcycles operated by tourists will be prohibited from boarding the Gushan–Cijin ferry line daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. throughout the holiday period. This restriction does not apply to Cijin residents, electric motorcycles, bicycles, or vehicles used for official duties.

The Department urges travelers to check real-time traffic conditions via the Kaohsiung Real-Time Traffic Information Website or the Provincial Highway Real-Time Traffic Information System before departure and to use alternative routes when necessary to avoid congestion.
