(CNA reporter Yu Hsiao-han, Taipei, June 16) One flight attendant from EVA Airways Corporation passed away after working while ill and returning to Taiwan. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) announced today that, following an investigation, EVA Air has been found in violation of the Civil Aviation Act and fined NT$600,000, with an order to immediately rectify the issue.

The flight attendant surnamed Sun worked on a round-trip flight between Taiwan and Milan in September last year while unwell. Her health deteriorated rapidly during the mission, and she passed away on October 10 upon returning to Taiwan, drawing public attention to flight attendants' sick leave policies.

According to the latest violation and penalty information released by the CAA, EVA Air was found to have violated Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Aircraft Flight Operations Regulations, as stipulated under Article 41-1, Paragraph 2 of the Civil Aviation Act, which states: 'Aircraft operators shall establish cabin crew manuals and implement them accordingly.' The airline has been fined under the Civil Aviation Act and ordered to make immediate improvements. (Editor: Lee Ming-tsung) 1150616
