(Taipei, June 16, CNA journalist Li Chien-chung) The 'Da'ai Three-Town Sports Festival' will take place on June 27 in Baoshan Township, Hsinchu County. This year, the event is co-organized with the Environmental Protection Administration's 'Low-Carbon Commuting Carnival' and features Olympic badminton men's doubles gold medalist Wang Chi-Lin as its promotional ambassador. Wang arrived on a Ubike today, sharing insights into his low-carbon lifestyle.
Before the event began, large screens continuously played promotional videos highlighting low-carbon transportation, showcasing sustainable living and the heartwarming image of the 'Happiness Bus' traveling through rural pathways. The opening ceremony was then kicked off by energetic performances from students of Xincheng Elementary School and Shuangxi Elementary School.
Wang Chi-Lin made his entrance riding a Ubike, following a spirited cheer dance by Muse Girls, the popular cheerleading team from Taiwan's professional basketball league.
In an interview, Wang revealed, 'Before I got married, if the weather was good and the distance wasn’t too far, I would often use a Ubike as my mode of transportation. It helps reduce carbon emissions and also gives me a bit of light exercise. After getting married and having a child, it became less convenient to ride a bicycle, but I still enjoy walking through the streets with my wife and pushing our baby along.'
When asked about his recent international competition results not meeting expectations, Wang stated, 'There’s no issue and no excuse—when you lose, you just keep practicing until you don’t lose anymore.'
Coincidentally, Wang’s wife, 'Shiyuan' (Chen Shih-Yuan), and her twin sister Chen Shih-Ya, filmed promotional content for Baoshan’s 'Twin Well' last year. Today, they brought their three-month-old son, 'Rally,' to the event, creating a deeply heartwarming atmosphere.
The Baoshan Township Office emphasized that this year’s Da'ai Three-Town Sports Festival is not only a platform for physical fitness and athletic competition but also a green, sustainable low-carbon carnival. They sincerely invite friends from across the nation to join the spirited events using low-carbon transportation. (Editor: Chang Ming-Kun) 1150616
