(CNA reporter Yang Yao-ju, Taipei, 16th) Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand has passed away at the age of 47. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced today that President Lai Qingde and Premier Cho Jung-tai have conveyed the government and people's condolences through Taiwan's representative office in Thailand. Thailand has entered a mourning period, and MOFA urges Taiwanese nationals in Thailand to observe local royal mourning customs.

In a press release today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow and sincere condolences on behalf of the government of Taiwan to King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand over the passing of his eldest daughter, Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati. President Lai and Premier Cho have both conveyed their condolences through Taiwan's representative office in Thailand. MOFA's Deputy Minister for Administration, Pauline Ko, visited the Thailand Trade and Economic Office this morning to deliver a formal message of condolence and read a eulogy on behalf of the ministry.

The MOFA stated that Princess Bajrakitiyabha dedicated her life to serving Thailand and its society. She held significant public offices, including Prosecutor at Thailand's Supreme Prosecutor's Office and Ambassador of Thailand to Austria, and had long advocated for the advancement of women and vulnerable groups. Her exceptional wisdom and compassion earned her deep respect and admiration from the Thai people.
