Central News Agency, Taipei, June 16 The New Taiwan dollar exchange rate against the US dollar temporarily closed at 31.554 at noon in the Taipei foreign exchange market today, rising by 1 cent, with a trading volume of 736 million US dollars.
The opening rate for the New Taiwan dollar against the US dollar today was 31.569. During morning trading, it reached a high of 31.545 and a low of 31.59. Market analysts suggest that the appreciation was influenced by a slight weakening of the US dollar and increased demand for Asian currencies.
Foreign exchange market observers note that reduced expectations of aggressive US interest rate hikes have led to renewed buying interest in regional currencies, supporting the New Taiwan dollar's rise. Additionally, foreign exchange conversion demand from Taiwan's export sector may have contributed to the upward momentum.
Future exchange rate movements will likely depend on the Federal Reserve's monetary policy direction and the pace of economic recovery in China. The Central News Agency continues to provide real-time updates on financial market developments.
