According to a report by Central News Agency reporter Wang Bao'er in Taipei, the 2026 Taiwan Cultural Expo's cultural exhibition and brand trade show will take place in August. The Ministry of Culture announced today that the cultural exhibition's main theme will return to the fully restored historic building of the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) at the former Air Force Command headquarters, with the theme titled 'Bit Zero'.
The Ministry of Culture stated in a press release that the historic building of the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab, located in central Taipei, will be completed in time for summer vacation this year and officially open for use. The Ministry will launch a series of art-integrated programs and events to signal that the new 'National Cultural Base at Air Force Command' is gradually taking shape.
As Taiwan's most important platform for showcasing cultural content, industry exchange, and market matchmaking, the Taiwan Cultural Expo will return to the Air Force Command site, inviting the public to experience authentic, irreplaceable sensory encounters within a century-old historic structure that cannot be digitally backed up.
The 2026 Taiwan Cultural Expo's 'Cultural Exhibition' will include outdoor landscape installations, a thematic cultural exhibition hall, a local specialty pavilion, and a craft selection store curated by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. The month-long exhibition will offer visitors a multi-layered curatorial experience. The 'Brand Trade Show' segment will feature IP licensing, cultural brands, the Black Tide Star Paradise zone, and the Cultural Content Agency's latest project, 'IP Rebirth Manga House'.
This year's annual cultural theme, 'Bit Zero,' responds to the AI wave by exploring how AI-generated images and texts—thousands of dazzling outputs—originate from the creator's very first 'thought,' akin to a primordial incantation that activates all things. The exhibition invites audiences to safeguard the power of that initial spark of creativity, returning to the 'Bit Zero' to ensure that the cultural AI era continues to shine.
The 2026 Taiwan Cultural Expo will first launch its cultural exhibition at the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab from August 1 to 31. The trade show will follow from August 6 to 12 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1. (Editor: Zhang Yajing)
