The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced today the launch of the #FindingTAIWAN_2.0 global film competition in July, themed 'Where We Connect.' The initiative encourages creators from Taiwan and abroad to explore Taiwan's stories through the lenses of democracy, culture, technology, and innovation, and to present Taiwan's diverse global connections through creative video content.

At a regular press briefing, MOFA's Director-General of the International Communication Department, Chang Hsiu-chen, stated that last year's inaugural #FindingTAIWAN global film competition received an enthusiastic response, with over 280 submissions from more than 20 countries. Through the diverse perspectives and visual storytelling of international creators, many touching stories about Taiwan were shared, successfully showcasing Taiwan's vibrant and multifaceted identity to the global community.

Chang emphasized that to continue leveraging grassroots creativity and present Taiwan from more diverse viewpoints, this year's #FindingTAIWAN_2.0 competition will invite creators to explore how Taiwan connects with the world through themes such as democracy, innovation, culture, technology, and human interaction. Participants are encouraged to use their personal observations and creative vision to highlight Taiwan's global interconnections.

A new highlight this year is the introduction of the 'Guang Hua Special Award.' Taiwan Panorama magazine (formerly known as Taiwan Review) has long introduced Taiwan to the world through compelling narratives and visuals, building a rich archive of cultural and historical content. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the competition welcomes creators to draw inspiration from the magazine's database, reinterpreting and reimagining its archival footage and reports in innovative ways, allowing these valuable historical materials to be rediscovered and appreciated by new audiences.

Chang noted that the official guidelines for #FindingTAIWAN_2.0 will be released by the end of June, with submissions accepted in July and August, and the awards ceremony scheduled for the end of September. Detailed information will be published on the dedicated event website, as well as on MOFA's official website and social media platforms. MOFA sincerely invites filmmakers, content creators, and Taiwan supporters worldwide to participate and help shape a richer, more diverse narrative of Taiwan through creative visual storytelling.
