(CNA reporter Jiang Mingyan, Taichung, June 16) Former stock market leader Largan Precision is aggressively advancing into CPO (co-packaged optics) applications, resulting in a sharp stock price rally. Today, the stock hit its daily trading limit, closing at 4,860 TWD—the second consecutive trading day at the upper limit—marking a new high not seen since late February 2020, over six years ago. The surge also drove several optical component stocks to rally sharply, with multiple hitting their daily limits.

Despite last week’s downgrade by foreign broker JPMorgan to a neutral rating, Largan’s stock surged again today, closing at 4,860 TWD—its second consecutive day at the upper limit. Since May 12, the stock has gained 90%, reaching its highest level in over six years.

Benefiting from optical application themes and catch-up momentum, optical stocks including Advanced Optical, Largan Photonics, Kingtek, Chicony Light, and Jaten all surged to their daily limits. TPK Holding (Largan) and Asia Optical rose 2.2% and 3.8%, respectively.

Largan is actively expanding into CPO applications. Chairman Lin En-Ping recently announced, after the shareholder meeting, plans to launch the first automated pilot production line by September 2026, with one major potential buyer already scheduled to visit the facility.

Largan stated that the pilot line will primarily produce FA (fiber array). The FA can be coupled with MLA (micro lens array) to form an FAU (fiber array module). Largan’s business model includes supplying both FA and MLA components.

Regarding current precision levels, Lin En-Ping noted that the best external precision is between 0.5 and 0.8 microns, while Largan’s internal testing has already achieved sub-0.3 micron precision. High precision and the ability to stack four or more layers are key competitive advantages for Largan.

Lin revealed that with AI development, industrial camera applications are rapidly declining. From the outset, the company aimed not to be eliminated by AI but to join it—hence the initiation of the CPO project. Now, with initial results achieved, he stated, 'It’s time to boldly move FA into mass production.' (Editor: Zhang Liangzhi) 1150616
