The 3rd 'Jiayou Hiking Trail: Autumn in Chiayi' hiking event has officially opened registration. This year's event will take place on October 18 and features an upgraded route that integrates, for the first time, the Alishan Dinghu Trail and Shizhao Trail network, inviting people from across the country to explore the mountainous landscapes of Chiayi.

Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang and event ambassador Wang Shu-li, a renowned weather broadcaster, announced the registration launch at the county government office today.

Magistrate Weng stated that this year's event connects the Dinghu Trail, Dadongshan Trail, Pilishan Trail, and featured paths within the Shizhao Trail network—including the Tea Trail, Mist Trail, and Cloud Trail—offering hikers scenic views of bamboo groves, tea plantations, and forest landscapes, showcasing the rich and diverse natural beauty along the Alishan Highway.

Wang Shu-li highlighted that the event's greatest feature is the full immersion in Chiayi's premium mountain scenery during the hike. From a meteorological perspective, October offers the most stable and pleasant weather of the year, making it the ideal season for outdoor hiking. She urged the public not to miss this opportunity.

The Chiayi County Department of Cultural Affairs and Tourism stated that this year's event offers 1,200 spots across three categories: a 4-kilometer family-friendly course (400 participants), a 7-kilometer hiking course (400 participants), and a 10.5-kilometer challenge course (400 participants), catering to participants of various age groups and fitness levels.

The registration fee is NT$300. Successful registrants will receive an eco-friendly commemorative T-shirt and a NT$100 market voucher. On the event day, in addition to the hiking activities, a specialty market will be set up, featuring local agricultural products, cuisine, and unique brands from Chiayi, allowing participants to savor the distinctive flavors of the mountain region while enjoying the outdoors.
