To promote greater diversity in in-train advertising, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) announced today the first-time opening of non-framed advertising spaces within EMU500, 700, 800, and 900 series electric multiple units (EMUs) for rental. Available areas include hand straps, wall stickers, door panels, ceiling stickers, and floor stickers.

In a press release, TRA stated that while train advertising has traditionally focused on exterior livery, the new initiative aims to encourage richer, more creative interior designs. From now until December 31, 2026, applicants for a single creative ad format (e.g., hand straps) will receive a 20% discount, reducing the rate to NT$640 per square meter.

For those applying for two or more creative ad formats and leasing two or more train cars (e.g., floor + wall stickers, hand straps + window stickers), an additional 20% discount will be applied, resulting in a total 36% reduction (64% of the original rate), bringing the cost down to NT$513 per square meter.

TRA stated that this initiative marks the first time such interior spaces on EMU500 to 900 series trains have been made available for short-term advertising rental. The move aims to increase ancillary revenue, better meet market and public demand, and enhance the passenger travel experience.
