Taiwan Stock Market Rises 412.2 Points

(Central News Agency, Taipei, 16th) The Taipei stock market rose today amid volatility, closing up 412.2 points at 45,809.19, a 0.91% increase, with a total trading value of NT$1.19779 trillion.

The weighted index opened at 45,500.08 points, reaching a high of 45,809.19 and a low of 45,266.34. The non-financial index closed at 41,183.56, up 328.76 points.

Performance across the eight major sectors: Cement and ceramics stocks down 0.06%, food stocks down 0.55%, petrochemical stocks up 0.08%, textile stocks up 1.73%, machinery-electronics stocks up 0.92%, paper stocks up 2.47%, construction stocks down 0.6%, and financial stocks up 2.15%.

Buy orders totaled 21,525,234 shares, sell orders 16,357,462 shares, with 12,215,293 shares traded.

At closing, 342 stocks rose, 684 declined, and 80 remained unchanged.

Top five stocks by trading volume: Active United Upgrade 50, Winbond Electronics, Powerchip Semiconductor, United Microelectronics, and Yuanta Taiwan 50 Bull 2.

Top five gainers: Pericor Biomed-TP, Lisheng, IBASE, TTM, and Lianying.

Top five losers: Lilon Electric, Han Tang, Hsin Chong, Yubond, and United Renewable Energy. 1150616
