(Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-hsiang, Tainan, June 16) Tainan City Government has established Taiwan's first Mental Health Education Center at the Zengwen Municipal Vision Park. The center integrates mental health education, counseling services, and community support functions, and connects with mental health resources in the Xibei region, opening its doors to visits from schools, communities, and civil groups in Tainan.

In a press release issued today, the Tainan City Government stated that since 2022, it has progressively established six community mental health centers. This latest initiative—the first-of-its-kind Mental Health Education Center—aims to enhance citizens' understanding of mental health and their ability to practice self-care. Promoting mental well-being is also emphasized as a foundational element in suicide prevention.

According to the Tainan City Health Bureau, the Mental Health Education Center features thematic zones on emotional exploration, the science of the brain and emotions, stress adaptation, and interpersonal interaction. Through interactive experiences, visitors can gain practical knowledge about mental health and apply it in daily life.

The Health Bureau noted that the total budget for establishing the center was NT$5.1 million, with NT$2.7 million in central government subsidies and NT$2.4 million from the city government. The center will offer themed exhibitions and guided tours to bring mental health topics into communities and schools. Future plans include refining the tour programs and exhibition content to expand educational outreach. (Editor: Chen Jen-hua) 1150616
