(Central News Agency reporter Tsai Meng-yu, Kaohsiung, June 16) The Kaohsiung City Water Resources Bureau is carrying out pavement repair and cleaning work around the pumping station at the Zhongzheng Underpass. Road pavement grouting construction is scheduled for this afternoon near the pumping station, reducing traffic on the eastbound outer lane for two hours.
According to a press release issued today by the Kaohsiung City Water Resources Bureau, pavement repair and cleaning work was conducted last night around the Zhongzheng Underpass pumping station. However, due to rainfall, some grouting work could not be completed as scheduled. Today’s work will continue the grouting operations.
The bureau stated that grouting construction will take place from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM today near the pumping station at the Zhongzheng Underpass. During this period, the eastbound (toward Fengshan) outer lane of the underpass will have reduced通行. Normal traffic will be restored as soon as the work is completed.
Additionally, in Rinchang Road in front of Gushan Neiwei Market, a section of aging underground stormwater pipe with a diameter of 1.2 meters became dislocated due to typhoon-induced heavy rainfall in 2024 (Minguo Year 113), leading to repeated road subsidence and repairs, affecting surrounding drainage and traffic safety. The Water Resources Bureau has carried out disaster restoration work, replacing 118 meters of the damaged pipe.
The bureau stated that the project began construction in July last year and has recently been completed. After completion, drainage has improved significantly, and the road surface has been resurfaced, providing residents, vendors, and shoppers with a safer and more convenient traffic environment.
The bureau emphasized that in response to extreme climate conditions and short-duration heavy rainfall, the city government will continue regular inspections, sediment removal, and flood preparedness for drainage facilities. It will also continuously review and improve sections prone to flooding or with aging infrastructure to enhance urban drainage efficiency and strengthen the city’s flood resilience.
