(Central News Agency reporter Wu Wen-rong, Kinmen, June 16) Four Chinese coast guard vessels intruded into the restricted waters near Kinmen this afternoon. In response, Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration dispatched patrol boats to sail alongside the vessels and issued radio broadcasts demanding they change course and depart. The Ocean Affairs Council's Coast Guard Administration stated that the Chinese vessels are attempting to create a false international impression of jurisdiction, thereby undermining regional peace and stability.

The Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch of the Coast Guard Administration issued a press release stating that at around 2:00 p.m., the 12th Patrol Zone detected Chinese coast guard vessels near Kinmen's waters and immediately deployed patrol boats for response.

The branch reported that at 3:00 p.m., Chinese coast guard vessels '14606', '14531', '14607', and '14530' entered Kinmen's restricted waters in two pairs, approaching from the southwest of Liedao and the south of Lieyu. The 9th (Kinmen) Coast Guard patrol boats immediately deployed to intercept, sailed parallel to monitor and drive them away, and broadcasted instructions in both Chinese and English via radio for the vessels to change course and leave. Under the monitoring of the patrol boats, the Chinese vessels exited Kinmen's restricted waters at 5:03 p.m.

The Coast Guard Administration emphasized that China's gray-zone tactics in maritime areas aim to fabricate a false impression of jurisdiction, disrupting regional peace and stability. The administration will maintain a firm stance, continuously monitor Chinese coast guard movements, appropriately deploy vessels, and forcefully expel intruders to fully safeguard national sovereignty and maritime security.
