2026 FIFA World Cup Key News

(Los Angeles, 16th – international news) After Tunisia suffered a 1-5 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup, the Tunisian Football Federation announced yesterday via national television the dismissal of head coach Sabri Lamouchi. He has been replaced by French coach Hervé Renard.

According to AFP, Renard previously led Saudi Arabia to a stunning victory over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, before managing the French women's national football team.

Tunisia's public broadcaster reported: 'Moez Nassari, President of the Tunisian Football Federation, announced a formal agreement with French coach Hervé Renard, who will lead the national team through the end of the 2026 World Cup.'

Sabri Lamouchi, a former French international, had only taken charge in January of this year.

After the heavy defeat to Sweden on the 14th, Tunisia's chances of advancing to the knockout stage have significantly diminished. Their next match in Group F will be against Japan on the 20th. (Translation: Ho Hung-ju) 1150616
