(CNA reporter Su Szu-Yun, Taipei, June 15) CTBC Bank announced that due to the expiration and termination of its co-branding agreement with Yahoo Information Co., Ltd. Taiwan Branch (Hong Kong-based), Yahoo co-branded cards held by customers will automatically become invalid starting July 1, 2024. CTBC Bank stated that the card replacement process has already begun gradually since the end of May.
China Trust Commercial Bank recently issued an official announcement stating that customers holding the 'YAHOO Co-Branded Card' will see their cards automatically expire starting July 1.
CTBC Bank noted that in addition to announcing the card discontinuation online on April 17, it also mailed out notification letters to users in mid-April. The card replacement process began gradually at the end of May. Customers' related benefits and services will remain unaffected during this transition.
According to CTBC Bank's official website announcement, customers who hold only the Yahoo card or have used it within the past year will begin receiving replacement cards starting May 20, 2024. These new cards will be CTBC Bank cards equipped with EasyCard or iPASS functionality. Starting July 1, the Yahoo Titanium Card and Yahoo Business Titanium Card will be deactivated and converted to the CTBC Business Titanium Card.
For customers holding multiple cards or those who have not used the Yahoo co-branded card in the past year, CTBC Bank stated that to avoid the risks and management difficulties associated with holding multiple overlapping-function cards, new cards will not be automatically issued.
