U.S.-Iran War Key News
(Central News Agency, Paris, June 15 —综合 international wire reports) France begins hosting the Group of Seven (G7) summit today in Évian-les-Bains for three days, with the main focus expected to be on the U.S.-Iran agreement recently reached by U.S. President Trump and its subsequent effects, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to AFP, France is hosting the G7 summit at a pivotal moment, just after the United States and Iran reached a deal to end their conflict. French President Emmanuel Macron, the host, stated that G7 leaders will discuss the 'expected outcomes' of the agreement tomorrow, including the renewed and long-term reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
World leaders will gather over the next three days in the spa resort town of Évian. President Macron also aims to advance a complex agenda, ranging from addressing global economic imbalances to strengthening regulation in the digital domain, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).
France hopes to expand the G7's influence beyond its current members: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend a session on Ukraine tomorrow; Arab leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, will participate in discussions on Iran.
Leaders from Brazil, Egypt, India, Kenya, and South Korea will also attend.
In addition to political issues, AI industry leaders — Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI; Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic; and Arthur Mensch of Europe's AI competitor Mistral AI — will jointly attend an event on June 17 focused on protecting minors in the digital realm. (Translation: Qu Xiangping) 1150615
