A stall at a twilight market in Renwu District, Kaohsiung City, was vandalized with spray paint and scattered with joss paper. Police arrived late yesterday and, after reviewing surveillance footage, identified a man surnamed Chen as the suspect.

The suspect admitted that in May, he became upset over what he perceived as excessively high prices for seafood such as baby octopus and shrimp at the stall.

Believing the stall belonged to a specific vendor, he took advantage of a moment when no one was around to spray offensive words onto the table surface and scatter joss paper as an act of retaliation.

Police confirmed the stall was a rented space with no fixed tenant. After questioning, Chen was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Republic of China Criminal Code, including charges of property damage and intimidation. (Edited by Li Ming-Tsung) 1150615
